Panforte
Panforte
Panforte is one of the typical Tuscan desserts made with passion by the Biscottificio Pasquinucci. The perfect idea for an out-of-the-ordinary Tuscan dish, nutritious, sweet and with a thousand flavours. Some interesting historical passages: Once upon a time, about 1000 years ago, this Christmas dessert was called Panpepato, as the surface was covered with a veil of black pepper. The preparation was entrusted to the Medici Guild and intended exclusively for the nobles, the rich and the clergy precisely in consideration that some ingredients were very expensive for those times, such as almonds for example. As time passed, the Gingerbread did not undergo any changes until 1879, the year in which Queen Margherita visited the city of Siena. An apothecary, for the occasion, prepared a panforte with a covering of vanilla sugar instead of black pepper, offered to the queen as "Panforte Margherita".
